Auf einer gemalten, hellbraunen Holzwand mit Astaugen ist ein Blatt befestigt mit vier roten Wachssiegeln. Das Blatt zeigt an den Rändern Einrisse und Faltsp. Dargestellt wird darauf das Brustbildnis eines Mannes nach links mit Jacke und breitem Hut, ein Gewürzgefäß in seiner erhobenen rechten Hand haltend, während seine Linke unter das Gefäß greift. Mit aufgeweckten Augen und geöffnetem Mund schaut der Mann aus dem Bild heraus. Die Beschriftung „De Smaeck“ unterhalb der Darstellung verweist auf den Sinn. Gekonnte Trompe-l’oeil Wiedergabe in zurückhaltender Farbgebung.
