Das großformatige Gemälde zeigt die jugendlich wiedergegebene Heilige nahezu in Lebensgröße, nur mit einem rot-braunen Tuch bekleidet, nach rechts gewandt. Ihre Hände weisen auf einen Schädel, der auf einem altarähnlichen Steinblock liegt. Darüber, in Andeutung, ein Salbgefäß, Attribut der Heiligen. Die betonte caravaggeske Hell-Dunkel-Auffassung lässt die Figur im Halbakt von links oben schräg beleuchten, der Kopf gerahmt von dunklem lockigen Haar, der Blick nach oben, dem Licht entgegen gerichtet, verrät die malerischen Einflüsse von Guido Reni (1575-1642). Die Dreiviertelfigur seitlich eingefasst durch den Rand einer Grottenhöhle sowie durch Wolkenbildungen links oben, während das rückwärtige Zentrum als Ausblick aus der Grotte zu verstehen ist. This large format painting shows the youthful saint, almost in life size. The pronounced chiaroscuro in the style of Caravaggio shows the semi-nude figure lit diagonally from the top left, her head framed by dark, curly hair while she is gazing upwards towards the light – all suggesting the stylistic influence of Guido Reni (1575-1642).
This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
