Deutsche Bildhauerin, Schülerin von Bernhard Hoetger (1874-1949) von 1912-1915 in Darmstadt. Anschließend in Berlin in der „Vereinigung der radikalen bildenden Künstler“, zu der neben Hoetger auch Rudolf Belling (1886-1972) und Herbert Garbe (1888-1945) zählen. Dann im Kreis von Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945), Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) und Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884-1976). Stipendium der Villa Romana unter Hans Purrmann (1880-1966). In der NS-Zeit als „entartet“ gebrandmarkt. Erhielt zahlreiche Ehrungen und Preisauszeichnungen.
