Als Tochter eines Miniaturmalers wurde Galizia durch ihre Portraitzeichnungen bis an den Hof von Kaiser Rudolf II (1552-1612) in Prag berühmt. Ein Großteil ihres Werkes umfasst jedoch Fruchtstillleben in der Art des hier vorliegenden Werkes. (1111211) (5) (11)

As the daughter of a miniature painter, Galizia became famous for her portraits and was called to the court of Emperor Rudolf II of Austria (1552 – 1612) in Prague. However, the majority of her paintings are fruit still lifes in the style of the painting on offer for sale in this lot.
