Bloots Interieurs und Bauernszenen sind den Werken Adriaen Brouwers (1605/06-1638) und Teniers nahe. Auf vorliegendem Gemälde sitzt ein Bauer mit Krug und Bierglas in einem Interieur mit stilllebenhaft arrangiertem Küchengeschirr. Der graubärtige Mann blickt, wie sein am Boden sitzender Hund, dem Betrachter entgegen. In origineller Weise nimmt auch ein Huhn, das an einem Fassrand sitzt, die selbe Blickrichtung ein. Typisch für die Malweise des Künstlers ist die Zweiteilung der Bilddarstellung in eine linke und rechte Hälfte unterschiedlicher Schilderungen. So wie etwa hier links die Stilllebenwiedergabe, rechts die Person. Ähnlich verhält es sich auch bei seinem bekannten Gemälde „Christus bei Maria und Martha“ im Liechtensteinmuseum Wien. Bloot‘s interiors and peasant scenes are close to works by Adriaen Brouwer (1605/06 - 1638) and Teniers. The artist has a tendency to divide his composition into two parts, usually in a left and right half each with different depictions. This can also be seen in one of his famous paintings Christ in the House of Mary and Martha held at the Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna.
