Zentrales Thema im Oeuvre des deutschen Künstlers ist das Zusammenspiel von Stoff und Vakuum, Körper und Geist. Seinen Ausdruck findet dieser Ansatz in den für Schönauer charakteristischen lackierten Stahlskulpturen. In der vorliegenden großformatigen Arbeit scheinen die Stahlsphären wie schwerelose Blasen aneinander und übereinander zu hängen, wodurch das Werk eine ausgeprägte Leichtigkeit und Fragilität gewinnt. The central topic of this German artist’s oeuvre is the interaction of matter, vacuum, body and soul. This approach is expressed in Schönauer's distinctive lacquered steel sculptures. The steel spheres of this large sculpture seem to hang above and next to each other, like weightless bubbles conveying a sense of great levity and fragility.
