Ansicht des Platzes von der Ostseite her gegen Westen mit der links stehenden Fassade der von Mauro Codussi errichteten Renaissance-Kirche mit dem Campanile. Der Platz gefüllt von einer Menschenmenge, die einem Stierkampf zusieht. Links im Bild eine künstlich errichtete hohe Holztribüne, davor Stierkämpfer, die gegen zwei Stiere kämpfen, die Tiere an langen Leinen geführt. Bekanntlich wurden im 18. Jahrhundert an mehreren Plätzen Venedigs, so auch am Markusplatz oder wie hier, Stierkämpfe durchgeführt. Das Gemälde ist insofern eine wertvolle Dokumentation von historischen Ereignissen dieser Zeit.
