Der persische Regisseur, Drehbuchautor, Fotograph und Lyriker Abbas Kiarostami gehört zu den zentralen Figuren des New Wave Cinema im Iran. Obwohl in seinen Filmen ein lyrisch-romantischer Unterton mitschwingt, der doch den Alltag und die Realität düster schildert, feiern seine Fotos die Natur.
