Das Gemälde zeigt einen wirkungsvollen orientalischen Innenraum, die Wände mit Stoffbahnen verhängt, rechts hinten ein großer Stufenaufbau mit darauf abgestellten goldenen Prunkgefäßen, Schalen und Kannen. Im Zentrum, im engeren Kreis umgeben von Haremsfrauen, sitzt der Sultan mit großem Turban unter einem an der Decke aufgehängten Baldachin. Die häusliche Männergesellschaft ist rechts im Bild etwas abgesondert gruppiert. Links zwei stehende Herren, die offensichtlich eine Audienz erhalten haben. Einzig die Figur ganz links nimmt Blickkontakt mit dem Betrachter auf. Das lässt vermuten, dass es sich hier möglicherweise um den Auftraggeber des Erinnerungsbildes handelt. Links hinten tragen Diener weitere Prunkgegenstände - wohl als Gastgeschenke - herein. (10413911) (10)
