Die diagonal angelegte Komposition zeigt vier spielende Putten mit Liebestauben in einer sommerlichen Landschaft mit Felsen und Bäumen. Der aus Paris stammende Künstler studierte an der dortigen Akademie unter Louis Falloche, der ihn zu Naturstudien ermutigte. Lemoynes ganz dem Rokkoko verpflichtete Malerei in warmen und farbenfrohen Tönen zeigt sich auf vorliegendem Werk, das in weichem fließendem Duktus ausgeführt ist. Elegant spielt er mit den Farben des Inkarnats, die sich in der Landschaft stellenweise wiederfinden und so einen harmonischen Gesamteindruck des Werkes erzeugen. (1031063)

The diagonal composition shows putti playing with Zenaida doves in a summery landscape with rocks and trees. Lemoyne became a professor of the Royal Academy in Paris in 1731 and among his students were famous painters such as Joseph Natoire and François Boucher.
