Das Gemälde wird beherrscht von der zentralen Darstellung eines in nahezu sitzender Haltung unter Bäumen liegenden Mädchenakts. Das hell aufleuchtende Inkarnat wird besonders zur Wirkung gebracht durch den dunkler gehaltenen Hintergrund des Baumlaubs. Die kräftigen, etwas helleren Baumstämme im Hintergrund korrespondieren zu den kompositorischen Diagonalen des Bildaufbaus. Die Konturen des Aktes in abmilderndem Sfumato wiedergegeben. Stilistisch ist die Nähe zur Boucher-Schule vor allem aber auch zu dem Maler Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée (1725-1805) unverkennbar. (10003811) (11)
