Von erhöhtem Standpunkt Blick auf eine Hafenanlage mit einem großen roten Schiff am Kai nahe eines Gebäudes ankernd. Ein weitaus größeres Schiff verlässt gerade das umfasste Hafenbecken. Im Hintergrund das türkisfarbene Meer unter hohem grau-blauem Himmel. Malerei in teils raschem Pinselduktus.

Anmerkung:
Der französische Landschaftsmaler Albert Marquet nahm 1905 mit seinen Freunden Henri Matisse (1869-1954) und André Derain (1880-1954) an einer Ausstellung der „Fauves“ teil. Sein zentrales Thema ist der Zusammenhang von Farbigkeit und Licht sowie der Einfluss von Licht auf Farbe. 1939 ließ er sich bei La Frette an der Seine permanent nieder. (13220120) (18)
