Eine Darstellung mit Madonna und dem Kind, dem Heiligen Johannes und dem Heiligen Stephanus befindet sich in der Galleria G. Zabert, Turin.
Der 1554 in Genua geborene Maler und Kunstschriftsteller entstammte einer Patrizierfamilie und besuchte neben seiner autodidaktischen Tätigkeit auch die Werkstatt von Luca Cambiaso (1527-1585), welcher ihn stark beeinflusste. Er ging nach Florenz und erhielt als Günstling von Francesco de’Medici zahlreiche Aufträge des Florentiner Adels. Gegen diesen Erfolg gingen Florentiner und Genueser Künstler sowie sein Studienkollege Bernardo Castello (1557-1629) gegen ihn vor und strengten 1590/91 einen Prozess gegen ihn an, um zu erreichen, dass es Adligen verboten wird, das Malerhandwerk auszuüben, die juristische Entscheidung fiel jedoch im Sinne Paggis aus.
