Ähnlich wie in dem Portrait von Frans Pourbus d.J. (1569-1622) von 1611, welches im Palazzo Pitti bewahrt wird, steht auch in dem hier angebotenen Gemälde Louis XIII neben einem mit grünem Samt bezogenen Tisch, dessen Textil von einer Goldbordüre und Goldfransen dekoriert wird. Ein in farblicher Versetzung gestalteter Fließenboden endet an einem Pilaster, welcher halb durch ein purpurrotes, mit Goldfransen dekoriertes Ehrentuch überfangen wird. Leuchtend in seinem von Silberfäden durchwirkten Gewand steht der Kindkönig vor uns. Der am 27. September 1601 in Fontainebleau geborene und am 14. Mai 1643 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye gestorbene Ludwig war 1610 - 1643 König von Frankreich und Navarra (sein Vater wurde 1610 ermordet) und trug den Beinamen „le Juste“. (12115123) (13)
