Majolika-Sirupkanne

Sirupkanne mit konischem Korpus und schmalem, zylindrischem Hals. Die runde, weit hervorstehende Tülle wird durch eine Lasche stabilisiert und an den Hals gebunden. Die Front ist mit einem breiten Schriftband versehen, auf dem "AP/I DI SALVIA", für Arzneisalbe aus Salbeisirup zu lesen ist. Das Band ist an den Enden eingerollt und dort grün und gelb schattiert. Das blaue Dekor auf Weiß besteht aus persischen Palmetten mit eingestreuten, roten Rosetten. Bemalung in Blau, Gelb, Grün und Orangerot auf weißem Fond. Glasurabplatzungen an den Kanten, Chips an Fuß, Band um die Tülle und an der Lippe. Rest. an Tülle, Öffnung.

Maiolica syrup jar

Montelupo, 16th century.

Syrup jar with conical body and slim cylindrical neck. The round spout is strongly protruding, stabilised by a rope-shaped bracket attached to the neck. The front is decorated with a broad scroll inscribed AP/I DI SALVIA, an ointment made from sage syrup. The scroll's ends are rolled up and shaded in green and yellow. The blue décor against a white ground comprises Persian palmettes and interspersed red rosettes. Painted in blue, yellow, green and tangerine against a white ground. Glazing chips along the rims, chips to the foot, the band around the spout and the lip. Neck and spout restored.
