HUNGER, 1922 Holzschnitt auf weichem Hadernbütten mit vollem Rand.
22,3 x 22,8 cm. Blattmaß 55,4 x 34,6 cm.
Signiert.
Einer von ca. 20 nachweisbaren Abzügen. Kräftig schwarzer Druck des vierten Zustandes nach Entfernung des Titels "Hunger" und der Signatur der Künstlerin im Stock. Das Motiv hatte Kollwitz ursprünglich für ein von Theodor Plivier vertriebenes Flugblatt entworfen, das zur Spendenaktion für das notleidende Russland aufrief.

A deeply black impression of the fourth state after title and signature were erased.
Kollwitz created this subject originally for a leaflet, which called up for the Russian hunger relief, distributed by Theodor Plivier.
