Eines von 18 Exemplaren des zweiten Zustandes für den Künstler, der Stein wurde nach dem Druck der dritten Fassung abgeschliffen und von allen drei Versionen nur jeweils 18 Abzüge gedruckt. Mourlot 7. Güse/ Rau 41. Von sehr guter Erhaltung.
„Die drei Versionen dieses Motivs entstanden zwischen dem 1. November und dem 2. Dezember 1945. Bemerkenswert ist, daß stilistisch die erste und die dritte einander näher und fast gleich weit von der zweiten entfernt liegen. Mit Pinsel und Schaber veränderte Picasso die Komposition. Bald zog er Striche und füllte Flächen, bald reduzierte er die Zeichnung. Er kehrte mit dem letzten Zustand gleichsam zum ersten zurück, einen Weg nehmend, wie ihn unter allen Druckverfahren nur die Lithographie erlaubt.“ (Güse/Rau, S. 199).

Marie-Thérèse Walter, Paris (1973), laut handschriftlichem Vermerk verso. Marie-Thérèse Walter (1909 - 1977) war von 1927 - 1937 Picassos Muse und Geliebte, aus der Verbindung ging die Tochter Maya Picasso hervor.

Dated on the stone “5.11.45.”.

One of 18 artist's proofs of the second state, the stone has been ground down after the third version. Only 18 copies from each version were printed.
Mourlot 7. Güse/Rau 41. Very good condition. Framed.
“The three versions of this motif were created between 1 November and 2 Dezember 1945. It bears mentioning that stylistically the first and the third version lie close to each other and differ a lot from the second. Picasso - by using a brush and a scraper - changed the composition, drew lines, filled plane areas or reduced the drawing. In the third version he returns to the first, a modus operandi, which is only provided by the technique of lithograph among all printing methods.” (Güse/Rau, p. 199).

Marie-Thérèse Walter, Paris (1973), according to the handwritten note on the reverse. Marie-Thérèse Walter (1909 - 1977) was Picassos muse, model and mistress from 1927 - 1937, she is the mother of Maya Picasso.
