Maria Luigia Raggi,
1742 - 1813

Pair of paintings
LANDSCAPE CAPRICCIOS WITH FIGURES

Tempera on canvas.
45 x 60 cm.
Framed.

This pair of Capricci with Roman ruins and many figures is a typical example of Maria Luigia Raggi’s refined style. Here, we can see a subtle plot of references to the most important Roman landscape and capriccio painters between the end of the 17th and the first half of the 18th century. Her delicate and bright colours also remind us of the example of great Venetian capriccio painters like Marco Ricci and Giuseppe Zais.
