Provenienz:
Adda Collection.
Bedeutende italienische Privatsammlung.
Literatur:
Bernard Rackham.
Für ähnlich dekorierte Teller vgl. Jeanne Giacomotti, Catalogue des majoliques des museés nationaux, Paris, 1974, S. 198, Nr. 643, 645. (891332)
The Lid of a Maiolica Vessel
Diameter: 24.4 cm.
Dated "1514" on the bottom.
Deruta, 1514.
The small bowl for spices broken off and restored. On the rim there are two sections with overpainting, a few chips and spalling to the enamel on the rim.
Note:
The date is more likely 1554, because the second Arabic number "1" looks rather like the Roman numeral "L" for 50.
Provenance:
The Adda Collection. An important Italian private collection.
Literature:
Bernard Rackham.
For a similarly decorated plate, cf. Jeanne Giacomotti, Catalogue des majoliques des museés nationaux, Paris 1974, pg. 198, no. 643, 645.
