Auf stark gekehltem Fuß die Schale mit steiler Wandung und gelbem Rand. Im Spiegel trunkener Silen auf bockigem Reittier, gestützt von zwei Gefährten, vorweg ein Satyr. Die heitere Szene gerahmt von Bäumen, im Hintergrund Felsmassiv, Gewässer und in der Ferne eine Stadt. Bemalung in Türkisgrün, Gelb, Orange, Schwarz, Weiß, Blau und Braun. Auf der Unterseite in Blau beschriftet "sileno". Durchgebrochen und rest. mit Übermalungen entlang der Bruchlinien. Einige rest. Chips am Rand, weitere kleine Chips.

Das Thema ist Marcantonio Raimondis "Zwei Satyrn setzen Silen auf einen brüllenden Esel" entlehnt.

A Maiolica Istoriato Coppa on an Elegant Base
Diameter: 23 cm.
Duchy of Urbino, mid 16th century.
Labeled "sileno" on the bottom in blue.

Broken and restored with overpainting along the crack. A few restored chips on the rim, further small chips.

Note:
The theme was borrowed from Marcantonio Raimondi's "two satyrs putting Silen on a braying donkey".
