Expert's report:
A report by Dr Klaus Ertz from 1 December 2011 is enclosed. After examining the original painting he is convinced that it is of Jan Breughel's own hand. The figure staffage is painted by a hitherto unknown figure painter from the circle of Frans Francken the Younger (1581 - 1642). He describes the painting to be "an entirely autonomous composition without being modelled after a design by his father. Jan Breughel the Younger masterfully understands how to combine old ideas with new forms and incorporating his own stylistic means to create something entirely his own."
