Halbbildnis des Mädchens mit geschlossenen Augen und weißer Haube, in den Händen das Strickzeug, vor dunklem Hintergrund auf einem Lehnstuhl sitzend.
Laut beiliegendem technischem Gutachten leicht randbeschnitten, d.h., die Leinwandumschläge des Keilrahmens fehlen.
Gutachten:
Dem Gemälde ist ein Gutachten von Prof. Justus Müller Hofstede, Bonn, vom 8.8.2001 beigegeben, mit folgendem Textinhalt "Die verschollene Originalversion der "Tricoteuse Endormie" befand sich um 1759 im Kabinett des bekannten Pariser Sammlers De la Live de Jully; vgl. hierzu Edmond de Goncourt-Jules de Goncourt, L'Art du 18 siècle, 3. verbesserte und erweiterte Auflage, Teil V: Greuze, Paris 1882. Salon von 1759. Die Originalversion wurde von Jean-Baptiste Greuze sehr wahrscheinlich als Gegenstück zu dem 1755 datierten und signierten Gemälde "Der eingeschlafene Schuljunge" geschaffen ... Die Komposition des mir vorliegenden Gemäldes wurde mehrfach nachgestochen ... Weitere Werkstattversionen befinden sich im Denver Art Museum sowie in Privatbesitz".
Beigegeben ferner: Mikrochemisches Gutachten von Dr. Paul Machmer, Marbach am Neckar, vom 29.3.2001, mit dem Resultat, dass das Gemälde mindestens 200 Jahre alt ist. (9516842)

A microchemical report by Dr Paul Machmer, Marbach on the Neckar, dated 29 March 2001, is enclosed. It confirms that the painting is at least 200 years old.
