Enrico Baj,
1924 Mailand – 2003 Vergiate
Baj studierte Jura an der Mailänder Universität und Kunst an der Accademia di Brera. Er engagierte sich in anarchistischen Bewegungen und brachte verschiedene Schriften und Zeitschriften heraus. Er ist einer der wenigen Vertreter der italienischen Avantgarde. Seine Werke thematisieren häufig den Atomkrieg und weisen Einflüsse der Surrealisten und des Dadaismus auf. Spätere Arbeiten zeigen eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Pop Art.

Vor einem Webteppich mit Früchten und Ranken erhebt sich die abstrakt wiedergegebene Personifizierung der Moldau. Der Körper der Flussgottheit bildet sich aus Kordeln, die zu Strudeln geformt übereinander liegen. Schläuche und Rohre formen Gesicht und Haare.
