Hoher, schlanker Albarello auf Fußring und eingezogener Sockelzone, die Wandung eingezogen, kurzer Hals und leicht auskragende Lippe. Auf der Schauseite ist ein hochovales Bildfeld mit sternförmig geschwungenem Rahmen zu sehen. Darin steht eine Nonne in Tracht mit Kreuzstab, Nimbus und Bibel vor einem blauen und gelben Hintergrund. Die übrige Wandung der Vase ziert ein blauer Fond, der dekoriert ist mit weißen Spiralen, verstreuten Blüten und großen Blattranken. Lippe und Fußring umläuft ein gelbes Band. Bemalung in Rot, Gelb, Blau, Grün, Schwarz und Weiß auf weißem Fond. Insgesamt schöner Zustand, leichte Glasurabplatzungen.

Maiolica albarello
Height: 26 cm.
Diameter: 14.5 cm.
Venice, circa 1580.

Tall, slim albarello on foot ring with narrowing base, tapering body, short neck and slightly everted lip. On the front a painted oval medallion enclosed by a star-shaped frame. The medallion shows a nun standing with a nimbus, holding a crucifix and The Bible, on a blue and yellow ground. The remaining surface of the vase is ornamented with white spirals, interspersed flowers and large vines on a blue ground with a yellow band around the foot ring and rim. Painted in red, yellow, blue, green, black and white on a white ground. Good overall condition; minor glaze chips.
