Majolika-Teller mit Jünglings-Portrait

Tiefer Teller mit breiter Fahne. Im kleinen Spiegel das Portrait eines jungen Mannes im Profil nach links mit auffälligem Hut vor rotem Fond. Die Wandung mit bianco sopra bianco-Bemalung ist durch ein Band mit zierlichen Vierpässen von der Fahne abgetrennt. Diese zieren geometrische Muster in zwei unterschiedlich breiten Registern. Im Inneren formen Ellipsen Felder mit gotischem Blattwerk vor einem alla porcellana-Grund. Um den äußeren Rand ziehen sich gotische Blätter. Die Bemalung in Orangerot, Grün, Blau und rahmendem Schwarzblau. Bruchrest. und leichte Übermalungen entlang der Bruchkante.

Maiolica dish with a portrait of a youth

Deep dish with broad border. The small centre shows a portrait of a young man in left-facing profile wearing a distinctive hat on a red ground. The sides are decorated with bianco sopra bianco painting and separated from the border by a thin band patterned with a delicate quatrefoil design. The border is decorated with two bands of varying width each featuring geometrical patterns: the inner band with ellipses filled with Gothic foliage against an alla porcellana ground; the outer band with Gothic foliage. Painted in tangerine, green, blue and bluish black. Cracked and restored and minor associated overpainting along the crack.
