Sehr guter Zustand. Riss am Henkel rest. (9300037)

Maiolica coffee pot
Height: 22.5 cm.
Width 12 cm.
Depth: 15 cm.
Castelli, 17th century.

Coffee pot on foot ring, domed cover with small knob handle. The lower third of the pot is gadrooned. The handle is formed by two mirrored Cs back to back forming a cross shape. The long, arrow-shaped spout is accentuated in colour and decorated with a fish scale pattern. The Istoriato painting features pairs of figures on both sides. On the right a man is handing a colourful coat to another man. This is probably an illustration of Jacob, who is given the blood-stained coat of his favourite son Joseph, whereupon he falsely assumes that his son is dead. On the left a woman tries to prevent a man from leaving by holding onto his coat. This could be Joseph rejecting Potiphar's wife. Painted in red, yellow, green, blue, brown and black. Very good condition. Handle restored.

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
