Circa 1600 Antwerp - 1682 Paris
A Pair of Floral Still Lifes
Each oil on canvas.
In elongated ovals: 50 x 37.5 cm.
The painting with a butterfly is monogrammed "MP" on the lower right.

Included:
An expertise by Fabrice Faré, Paris, on 21.11.11 with the comparable image of another pair of oval, floral still lifes from the Collection of H.R. Broughton, London, with a corresponding reference. The painter, next to Jacques Linard, Lubin Baugin, and Louise Moillon, ranks among the most important sill life painters of the 17th century. The present still lifes deviate in very few details from the aforementioned painting references.

Literature:
"Le grand siècle de la nature morte," 1974, pg. 86.
