Die Szene ist in die Stilwelt des 17. Jahrhunderts versetzt, die drei Hauptfiguren im Vordergrund theatralisch von links oben beleuchtet, heben sich vor dem dunklen Gewölbe im Hintergrund wirksam ab. An einem Treppenpfeiler sitzt ein junger, höfisch gekleideter Mann mit Laute, der Mund zum Singen geöffnet, der Kopf zurückgewandt zu einer Magd, die der Musik lauscht. Rechts am Tisch sowie am Stuhl davor zwei eingeschlafene, junge Landsknechte. Im Hintergrund eine rundbogige Türöffnung, in der im Dunkeln eine weitere Gestalt erscheint. Schwert, Hut, Krüge und Kannen stillebenhaft am Boden sowie am Tisch verteilt, in historistischer Feinmalerei wiedergegeben. (890761)
