Die Wandung konkav nach innen gezogen, die Lippe leicht nach außen strebend. Die Vorderseite dekoriert mit zwei Rundmedaillons. Darin die Darstellung der Venus auf gelbem Fond sowie die Signatur "Thyrica", also ein Aphrodisiakum. Das andere Gefäß mit der Darstellung eines römischen Kriegers mit Schriftband, darunter die pharmazeutische Signatur "Dia Boragine", auf einem nach hinten stark gerollten Schriftband. Beide Gefäße mit reichem Ranken- und Blattdekor auf dunkelblauem, grünem und ockerfarbenem Fond. Die Schulter der Gefäße mit Ranken- und Blattdekor in Gelb auf grünem Fond. Einwandfreier Zustand. Eine Abplatzung an der Lippe.

Two Rare Albarelli, from the workshop of Virgiliotto Calamelli
Height: ea. approx. 25 cm.
Faenza, first half of the 16th century.

The wall is inwardly concave and the lip protrudes slightly outward. The front of one of the jars is decorated with two round medallions. Portrayed within is Venus on a yellow fond and the signature "Thyrica," meaning an aphrodisiac. The other jar depicts a Roman warrior with a scroll, under which is the pharmaceutical signature "Dia Boragine" on a tightly backwards rolled scroll. Both jars are richly decorated with tendrils and foliage on a dark blue, green, and ochre colored fond. The shoulders of the jars are decorated with yellow tendrils and foliage on green fond. In flawless condition. Spalling to the lip.
