Höhe: 63 cm.
Am Sockel Signatur in den noch nassen Ton eingeritzt und datiert "1837".
Beide Figuren jeweils auf einem Sockel sitzend wiedergegeben, ein Putto hält ein Stundenglas, der zweite hat Hand und Kopf auf eine nach unten gerichtete Feuerfackel gestützt. Die Attribute beziehen sich auf den Gedanken des Memento mori. Die Putten in nachbarocker Auffassung, jedoch in ruhiger, klassischer Haltung sitzend wiedergegeben.
Anmerkung:
Der Bildhauer wurde 1771 in den Rang eines fürstbischöflichen Künstlers erhoben, lebte während der Revolutionsjahre in Holland und Hamburg, schuf mehrere Holzschnitzwerke für Kirchen sowie das Schloss der Grafen Ansembourg sowie Holzdekorationen für Gebäude in Lüttich, Ornamente an einem Schloss in der Provinz Limburg sowie zahlreiche Büsten, Marmorbildnisse und Grabdenkmäler im Lütticher Raum. Arbeitete ab 1849 mit seinen Söhnen zusammen für mehrere Kirchenausstattungen. (872022)
