Antonio Maria de Reyna Manescau,
1859 Malaga - 1937 Rom
Der Maler war Schüler von Joaquin Martinez de la Vega an der Akademie in Malaga. Er widmete sich überwiegend dem Genre-Thema, dem Portrait aber auch der Landschaft und historischen Themen. Nachdem er sich in Rom niederließ, nahm er, wie auch die anderen spanischen Maler der Zeit, an Reisen vor allem nach Venedig teil, was ihn inspirierte, die Lagunenstadt zu portraitieren. 1887 nahm er an einer Ausstellung in Paris teil, 1911 an der Weltausstellung in Rom.

Mit Canal Grande, der Kirche di Santa Lucia mit dem Campanile sowie weiteren Palastgebäuden. Der Blick führt vom Canal Grande in einen Seitenkanal mit Bogenbrücke, links die genannte Kirche mit dem Campanile von San Geremia, daneben der Palazzo Labia, im Vordergrund mehrere Kähne und Gondeln, die in den Nebenkanal, den Rio di Cannaregio zur Ponte delle Guglie führt. Die lichtbetonte Auffassung der Vedute zeigt sich in feinen Farbabstufungen, in nahezu fotografisch realistischer Wiedergabe, gekonnt vor allem auch die Lichtreflexe auf der spiegelnden, ruhigen Wasseroberfläche.
