Im Inneren eines italienischen Raumes mit offenem Kamin sowie einer Kommode, im Hintergrund an der Wand sitzt eine junge Mutter auf einem Stuhl, die mit der rechten Hand einen Hund, mit der linken ein Mädchen umfängt, das sich ängstlich die Händchen hebend dem Hund zuwendet, der Blick der Mutter sucht das Mädchen zu beruhigen. Rechts daneben ein älterer Mann, wohl der Großvater, auf einem Hocker mit Pfeife und Wollmütze die Familienidylle lächelnd betrachtend. Im Hintergrund an der Wand realistische Wiedergabe des rissigen Wandputzes, darauf ein Andachtsbild sowie ein Sieb, stillebenhaft sind zwei Tongefäße auf der Kommode arrangiert. (8605289)
