Blick über den Canal Grande hinweg auf die Kuppelkirche von Santa Maria della Salute und die Punta della Dogana. Im Vordergrund Uferbalustraden, auf dem Wasser zahlreiche Gondeln und Segelschiffe. Das Gemälde entstand wohl in der Nachwirkung der venezianischen Vedutenmalerei aus der Tradition von Canaletto, Guardi und Belotto, die nachwirkend noch bis in den Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts beliebt war. Insbesondere als Grand Tour-Objekt in Erinnerung an die große Zeit der venezianischen Malerei. (8605227)
