Hochformatiges Seestück mit Darstellung einer felsigen Landzunge mit hoch über dem Meeresspiegel auftürmendem Felsen, darüber ein runder Leuchtturm. Der Felsen mit dem Land durch eine gemauerte Bogenbrücke verbunden. Im Vordergrund mehrere Personen bei der Bergung von Wrackteilen und eines Kahnes in bewegter Uferbrandung. Im Hintergrund mehrere schräg im Wind liegende Schiffe, am Horizont ein weiterer Turm, hoher Wolkenhimmel, wobei durch die dunklen Wolken das Sonnenlicht in warmem, rötlichem Ton durchbricht. In der Farbgebung nicht ohne Einfluss von Claude Lorrain.
