Der steife Kragen eines schwarzen Gehrocks, ein weißes Halstuch, eine angedeutete Perücke, sowie ein aufgesetzter Pottwal samt Meer statt des Dreispitzes lassen den Dargestellten als Maximilien Robespierre vermuten. Robespierre spielt im Oeuvre Tatafioris eine zentrale Rolle und steht in dessen Arbeiten für Revolution und Vernunft. (840443)

A man in right profile depicted in the centre of a pigeon-blue ground. The collar of his stiff black frock, the white scarf, the suggested wig, as well as a pot whale on his head might identify the sitter as Maximilien Robespierre. The latter plays a central role in Tatafiori’s oeuvre, standing for revolution and reason.
