Im Zentrum des Bildes ein Franziskanermönch erhöht auf einer Bühne stehend bei der Predigt, der zahlreiche Bürger zuhören. Der Prediger hat sich wirkungsvoll zwischen die beiden mächtigen Säulen und das Gebälk eines Tempels auf dem Minerva-Forum gestellt. Links im Hintergrund das Kolosseum. Gleichzeitig ist das Gemälde eine dokumentarische Wiedergabe der römischen Architektur. Links unten auf einem Stein die römischen Staatsinsignien „SPQR". (7903636)
