Der Künstler lebte und arbeitete in Rotterdam, Paris, Madrid und ab 1911 ständig in Den Haag. Er wirkte als Maler und nach 1946 vermehrt auch als Bildhauer. Werke seiner Hand u.a. im Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Die Figuren kreisförmig um zwei Pfaue gruppiert. Symbolistische Darstellung in Reminiszenz an antike Idealvorstellungen. Der stehende Frauenakt wird von einem Reiter umarmt, die beiden links lagernden Akte scheinen die Begegnung mit den beiden Reitern im Hintergrund zu erwarten. Am rechten Bildrand ein Faunsknabe und ein Hund. (781632)
