Marcello Bacciarelli,
1731 Rom - 1818 Warschau
Polnischer Hofmaler, entstammte dem Atelier von Marco Benefial, danach stark beeinflusst durch Pompeo Batoni. 1753 stand er im höfischen Dienst Augusts III. von Sachsen in Dresden, 1761 und 1765 am Hof Maria Theresias in Wien, später in Warschau.

Im originalen Rahmen, bekrönt durch Monogrammkartusche und Krone über Lorbeerblattwerk.
Dreiviertelportrait des Herrschers nach links, mit Ordensschärpe und Degen, seine Hand auf ein Schriftstück über ein Buch mit Schreibzeug gelegt. Der Dargestellte war ab 1764 als Nachfolger Friedrich Augusts II. König von Polen und Kurfürst von Sachsen. Durch seine Krönung in Warschau 1764 endete die Personalunion Sachsen - Polen. Gefördert durch die Zarin kam er auf den polnischen Thron, den er bis zu seiner Abdankung 1795 innehielt.
