Auf einem Tisch mit dunklem Samttuch dicht gedrängt zusammengestellte Vanitasgegenstände: Im Zentrum ein Schädel, daneben Flöte, ein Notenheft, aufgeschlagenes Buch sowie Prunkgefäße, flankiert von Posaune und einem Kerzenleuchter mit erlöschender Flamme. Die Gegenstände in delikaten Farben vorgeführt. Von besonderem Interesse die um den Schädel herumgelegten, geknickten Weizengarben, die einerseits den Tod, andererseits das künftige wiederaufkeimende Leben symbolisieren sollen.
