Die Bilddarstellung in zwei Bildhälften gegliedert. Links eine leicht höher stehende romanische Burg mit Rundturm und einem Brückenbogen, unter dem ein Wasserfall rauscht. Im Zentrum eine Baumgruppe, darunter reiche Figurenstaffage mit zwei Reitern und Fußvolk. Rechts Blick in eine Niederung mit weitem Tal, das von mehreren Flusswindungen durchzogen ist, mit Flussinseln und Landzungen, darauf zahlreiche Gebäudegruppen mit Burgtürmen und Kirchen. Feine, diesige Lichtstimmung, im Hintergrund mit Cumuluswolken und wirkungsvoll beleuchtetem Laub der Bäume. (720079)
