Hirtenpaar unter einem Baum neben Schafen und einem kleinen Mädchen, das sich an einen Felsen gelehnt. Das Paar eng aneinandergeschmiegt sitzend, der junge Mann hält seiner Dame eine Flöte an die Lippen um sie das Flötenspiel zu lehren. Links daneben ein Korb mit üppigem Blumenstrauß, im Hintergrund ein ruinöser Brunnensockel unter Bäumen. Rechts Ausblick in sonnenbeschienene Landschaft sowie ein Dorf mit Kirche in der Ferne.
