Alexander Kips hat seinen Platz in der Kunstgeschichte als künstlerischer Leiter der königlichen Porzellanmanufaktur Berlin von 1886 - 1908 erworben. Seine Landschaften, Skizzen und Entwürfe zeigen ihn technisch und künstlerisch auf der Höhe seiner Zeit und stehen jedenfalls was Lebendigkeit, zeichnerische Brillianz und malerische Virtuosität betrifft, vergleichbaren Schöpfungen auch der bedeutendsten Protagonisten der Berliner Kunst kaum nach.
