Maria - in einem roten Gewand mit einem blauen Mantel bekleidet - und Elisabeth, die in diesem Moment aus dem hinter ihr zu sehenden Haus kommt, begrüssen sich. Elisabeth, im farblichen Kontrast zu Maria, ist ganz in Gelb gekleidet. Zu ihren Füßen beobachtet ein Hund das Geschehen. Hinter Maria befindet sich neben dem bepackten Esel Josef. Dieser hält in seiner linken Hand einen erblühten Stab als Verweis auf das in Zusammenhang mit der Verlobung geschehene Stabwunder. Zwischen ihm und Maria macht Zacharias Josef auf die Begegnung aufmerksam. Hinterfangen werden die Figuren von einer vielzahl von Gebäuden. (590822)
