CAPRICCIO Ruinenlandschaft mit Meeresufer und Figurenstaffage, hohe, ruinöse Gewölbe mit kannelierten Säulen. Einem seitlich stehenden Vasenpodest sowie einer obeliskartigen Pyramide im Hintergrund. Links am Bildrand hinter Bäumen teils verdeckt einige Segelschiffe und Takelage. Im Zentrum ein Fahnenmast mit wehender Fahne und von Figuren umgeben. Öl/Lwd. 78 x 97 cm. Literatur: Das Gemälde ist ausführlich beschrieben in: Johannes Grave ein übersehendes Capriccio?, in: Weltkunst, Heft 2, Februar 2002, S. 170 - 171, mit zahlreichen Anmerkungen und Literaturverweisen, sowie mit zwei vergleichbaren Bildern aus Privatbesitz, bzw. aus Versteigerung bei Christie´s 1991. Verso auf dem Keilrahmen rotes Lacksiegel mit Wappen und Königskrone. (5301430)
