ZWEIFIGURIGE RAPTUSGRUPPE H.: 54 cm inkl. Sockel. Deutschland, 17. Jahrhundert. Anmerkung: Giambologna stellt in dieser Komposition kein historisches Thema dar; es ging ihm allein um die formale Bewältigung des Themas der Mehrfigurengruppe in extremer Bewegung, bei der eine männliche Gestalt eine Frauenfigur im Schreiten emporhebt. Die zweifigurige Komposition steht damit am Beginn einer Entwicklung, die in der berühmten dreifigurigen Marmorgruppe des Raubes der Sabinerinnen in Florenz gipfelt, welche 1583 enthüllt wurde. Eine erste Version der zweifigurigen Gruppe sandte Giambologna 1579 Ottavio Farnese. Sie steht heute in Neapel. (470756)
