Netsuke einer Katze aus Elfenbein
Darstellung einer Katze, die mit ihren Vorderbeinen in einem Korb wühlt. In ihrem Maul befindet sich ein grosser Fisch. Um den Hals trägt sie ein Band mit einem Glöckchen. Signiert Meishû (?). H. 4 cm. Japan, Meiji-Periode (1868 - 1912). Anmerkung: Katzen (neko) wurden in der Heian-Periode (794-1185) aus China nach Japan eingeführt, wo der Unterhaltung von Hofdamen dienten. Im Laufe der Zeit wurde die Katze zum beliebten Haustier. AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A CAT, signed Meishû (?). H. 4 cm. Japan, Meiji period. (3900916)
