Der Kurfürst im Halbbildnis nach rechts, mit blauer Taftschärpe, rotem Mantel und Orden vom Goldenen Vlies. Die Gemahlin leicht nach links gewandt, mit reichem Halsschmuck sowie dem polnisch-russischen Kreuzorden an rotem Band. Der weiche Samtglanz in den Stoffen sowie der ins Rosa ziehende Metallglanz der Rüstung zeigen deutlich die Malweise von George Desmarées. Der Kurfürst war Sohn von Kaier Karl VII Albrecht und begründete die Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München sowie die Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften. Ferner errichtete er die Nymphenburger Porzellanmanufaktur. Im Volk war er als der „Vielgeliebte“ geehrt. Interessanterweise verbot er damals die Oberammergauer Passionsspiele mit der Begründung, „dass das große Geheimnis unserer Heiligen Religion nun einmal nicht auf die Schaubühne gehört“. Da die Ehe kinderlos blieb, ging die Regierung Bayerns an die pfälzer Nebenlinie der Wittelsbacher über. (1381668) (2) (11)

In matching frames, surmounted by carved bows and acanthus leaves.
Accompanied by an expert’s report by Roberto Pancheri, Trient, dated 21 August 2020, in copy.
The elector was the son Charles VII, Holy Roman Emperor and founder of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He also founded the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory.
