Adam wurde vor allem als Schlachten- und Pferdemaler bekannt. Auch sein Bruder Benno widmete sich der Malerei. Das vorliegende Bild nach dem Leben gemalt, entstand aus der Frühzeit des Künstlerschaffens. Der Löwe, in einer Felsnische liegend, dürfte bei einem Besuch eines frühen Münchener Zooareals entstanden sein. Versuche, einen bleibenden Tierpark zu schaffen scheiterten mehrmals. Erst am 1905 entstand der heutige Tierpark Hellabrunn. A.R. (1371332) (11)
