Beigegeben ein Gutachten von Anna Orlando, Genua, die Mitwirkung des Meisters an diesem Gemälde, das wohl in der Werkstatt gefertigt wurde, annehmend.
Das Bildquerformat zeigt die Heilige im Halbbildnis, nach links gewandt, den Blick nach oben gerichtet. In höfischer Kleidung dargestellt, trägt sie eine Halskette mit Edelsteinen, im hochgesteckten Haar einige Blüten. Ihre rechte Hand liegt am Busen, mit der linken hält sie ein Saiteninstrument mit großer Schnecke. An den Hals des Instruments hat auch der kleine Engel seine Finger gelegt, der zu ihr hochblickt.
Das Bildmotiv ist für Strozzi in mehreren Ausführungen belegt (z.B. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City). Im Gegensatz zu dem genannten Beispiel wurde jedoch auf das Attribut der Märtyrerpalme verzichtet. Der bedeutende Maler, der zunächst ins Kloster eintrat, daneben sich sowohl als Maler wie auch als Ingenieur betätigte, hatte zeitlebens mit Prozessen zu kämpfen, bis er letztlich in Venedig sein Talent als Maler freier zur Wirkung kommen lassen konnte. Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Vertreter des Kolorismus seines Jahrhunderts. Dabei zeigen seine Werke eine ausgesprochen kluge Behandlung der psychologischen Wiedergabe seiner Figuren, was ihn nicht zuletzt – vor allem in seiner venezianischen Periode – zu einem gefragten Portraitisten werden ließ.
