Anesi, der bei Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari (1654-1727), Bernardino Fergioni (um 1674-1738) und Sebastiano Conca lernte, war unter anderem bei der Ausgestaltung der Villa Albani bei Rom beteiligt. Er war bekannt für seine weiten Landschaften mit teils vedutenhaftem Charakter. In seinem Umfeld muss auch das hier angebotene Gemälde entstanden sein.
